Carrier offload is driving even more traffic to the Helium Network! Take a look at this month's top performing Hotspot placements.

The Champions of Carrier Offload ⭐️

Carrier offload is new to the Helium Network, having been activated in June of this year. With its activation across a growing base of Hotspots 2,486 to date – top carriers and Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) are leveraging new venues for connectivity and these selected Hotspots have received proportional rewards for handling this traffic.

What is carrier offload?

In effect, every Hotspot has a chance to be a mini cell tower for any phone. Cell companies – other than Helium Mobile – also buy traffic from Hotspots on the Helium Network, allowing these companies to access stronger or more affordable coverage to enhance their own networks. As a result, Hotspots get rewarded for this work.

With the data rolling in, let’s take a look at what sort of placements have been the top performers to-date. Here are the top five Hotspots handling carrier traffic this past month.

October's top five Hotspots handling the most data

The Cricket leads the pack with 1.18 terabytes (!!!) of rewarded data transfer over the past month. Its deployment in a community center lends to a wide range of carrier subscribers – all needing access to fast connectivity. Check out the Cricket in detail.

Bandaids, check ✅. Redbull check ✅. 945GB of carrier offload traffic? Also check ✅! Get everything you need at this Walgreens in Homestead, Florida. Check out the Attractive Corgi here.

Shopping malls of any kind are fantastic places to set up Hotspots, and the Goldfish in Fort Worth is a prime example of why. Handling almost 850 GB last month, it provided robust connectivity to countless visitors. Take a closer look at the Goldfish.

Holding up the number four spot for the month, the Viper absolutely dominates this popular shopping area in Irving, Texas. For transferring all this data, it received over $400 worth of MOBILE tokens at the rate of $0.50/GB. Check out the Viper here.

Did you know 755GB is 45,300 minutes of FaceTime calls? That’s gotta be what’s going on here, right? Regardless, it’s an impressive feat for this bar in Austin, TX. Check out the Mallard here.

Foot traffic fuels your Hotspot’s success

Every Hotspot is eligible to be selected for Carrier Offload. Different carriers focus on different kinds of deployments. However, the one constant is that deployments with the highest level of foot traffic see the most usage. When evaluating your deployment opportunities, consider these examples along with offices, shops, gyms, gas stations, or other areas where people frequent.
