Helium Mobile Tour Recap: A Goose’s Tale

Helium Mobile isn’t just a phone plan that offers affordable connectivity and crypto rewards for its users. We’re part of a movement for decentralized connectivity that aims to build a better Internet.

This became abundantly clear to me during the Helium Mobile Tour, where I got to speak to community members IRL for the first time.

Los Angeles: Kicking off with style (May 9th)

Our journey started in the city of stars, just steps away from the Hollywood Walk of Fame. At Neuhouse, LA’s crowd of tech-savvy pioneers taught me how important DePIN (decentralized physical infrastructure) projects like Helium Mobile are to web3.

Panels led by Helium Mobile employees highlighted our focus on data privacy and user experience, while community members showed off Helium Mobile swag and enjoyed cocktails. I had the opportunity to discuss the decentralization movement with tech innovators who are actively building a better Internet. Time flew, and by the end, I really got a glimpse into the passion of the Helium Mobile community - I wanted to be wherever we went next! 

Austin: Consensus (May 29th-31st)

Next stop: Austin, Texas, where the Sunset Room became our HQ during the Consensus conference for three days. Picture tech enthusiasts in cowboy boots discussing blockchain over tacos The energy at Consensus brought people in from all around the world to discuss the industry. We dove deep into how Helium Mobile is transforming the relationship between telecom companies and their users.

NYC: Pizza and People-Powered Networks (June 16th)

In the city that never sleeps, we kept the energy high with a pizza party at the Solana Office with the help from our friends at PizzaDAO. In true New York fashion, we couldn’t just order pizza from one place - we ordered pizza from: Joe’s, Johns on Bleekers, Williamsburg Pizza and L'industrie. People listened to old school hip hop, ate great pizza and got to see a beautiful sunset. 

Industry leaders from Solana, DIMO, and the Helium Foundation shared insights on the rise of DePIN and its importance for web3.

Chicago: Becoming Gigi (July 18th)

In Chicago, the theme of the night was our Golden Goose promotion. If you haven’t heard, every hour, 32 subscribers are randomly selected to win 5,000 MOBILE and a Goose NFT. If a Golden Goose visits your Hotspot, it will lay an egg and reward you with 10,000 MOBILE.

As the marketing team’s designated “Gigi the Goose,” I had the honor of wearing the goose costume. Imagine a human-sized goose waddling through Punch Bowl Social, surrounded by arcade games and tech innovators sipping on goose-themed cocktails.

I met proud holders of multiple Goose NFTs, as well as curious newcomers who had no idea why they were being greeted by a giant goose. I started to understand that Helium Mobile itself is the Golden Goose – a crypto project with valuable real-world utility and the infrastructure to support it. My Goose costume was just the icing on the cake.

Between bites of BBQ chicken sliders, conversations flowed about Helium Mobile’s rapid growth and the future of blockchain. As the event ended and we said our goodbyes, I felt my webbed feet standing at the forefront of crypto and the decentralization movement.

I reluctantly packed the Goose costume into my carry-on, hoping to don the feathers again one day. I knew the tour would be taking a brief hiatus and had a great adventure witnessing the real power behind Helium Mobile: our community. Plus, I achieved my life-long dream of becoming a giant Goose!
